we were going to get rid of our old `Canon Pixma MG5700 ` printer and scanner combo. But then I thought I could use it for parts instead and only get rid of things that cannot be used. I have no previous experience in upcycling and/or repurposing hardware like this.
While googling, I stumbled upon [this page](https://makezine.com/projects/dont-waste-ewaste-unmaking-a-canon-printerscannerfax-into-parts/), which provides detailed information on what one can repurpose when disassembling an old printer.
However! While I might have a use case for few parts such as the gears and that paper out sensor, I wouldn’t know what to do with the rest.
Can somebody recommend a site that suggests projects for upcycling specific things? For example, most printers have the same kind of parts (i.e. gears, rods), so perhaps there are particular projects or instructions on what to do with those particular parts that one can scrap from an old printer like this.
Not sure I explained this well enough. Sorry, English is not my first language. I am looking for an overview of projects to start with parts from “device x” **only** (in this case that printer) that one can build with just the harvested parts.
Thank you for your ideas 🙂
