The tragedy happening now in Texas points clearly that 100% dependence on green energy is dangerous and unsustainable. With freezing temperatures (unusual for TX), 4M people are without power/heat and some without potable water. The wind turbines are frozen and unable to produce any electricity. The entire power grid is down with no break in zero temperatures for several days.
Water pipes are freezing in homes and will burst or may have already burst but cannot know until thaw begins. A water treatment facility is down so residents are told to boil water. How does one boil water to safely drink without power?
Estimated damage from snow and ice exceeds last hurricane. People will die in the cold. One death already.
TX failed to have proper backup plans to produce electricity during rare weather events. Foolish to ever think a city can depend on wind farms for all needs in all circumstances. There should always be the ability for a city to switch to fossil fuel in a moment’s notice when green methods fail entire cities.
