This WSJ Article points to the fact that now we are using more dirty coal as the world progresses towards the post COVID-19 recovery. Meanwhile we are decommissioning nuclear plants in a haphazard fashion and mindlessly. Solar and wind ramp up is NOT keeping up and now we are creating more pollution and global warming as a result. Refer to [https://www.wsj.com/articles/coal-shows-its-staying-power-as-economies-bounce-back-11625650381?mod=djem10point](https://www.wsj.com/articles/coal-shows-its-staying-power-as-economies-bounce-back-11625650381?mod=djem10point)
We need more than just green activist making noise, we need real system engineered solutions and a real world plan to ramp up faster and to transition away from fossil fuel, especially coal. We need many more “power move” type solutions like covering canals with Solar Panels REFER to [https://www.wired.com/story/why-covering-canals-with-solar-panels-is-a-power-move/](https://www.wired.com/story/why-covering-canals-with-solar-panels-is-a-power-move/) This article relates the fact that scientists in California ran the numbers on what would happen if their state slapped solar panels on 4,000 miles of its canals, the panels would save 63 billion gallons of water from evaporating each year. and these solar panels across California’s exposed canals would provide 13 gigawatts of renewable power annually. This is about half the capacity the state needs to meet its 2030 decarbonization goals.
