The Caretakers of the Universe sound off on becoming a hero in their own backyard.

Faith Communities Update
The RSVP's are comin in!!!
Well, it's getting closer. Just a few more weeks before we will all be together. The RSVP's from some of the leading faith influencers are comin in. What has been so exciting for me is to see the response from these leaders as they express their personal concerns over the environment and their desire to make a real difference. I have been pleasantly surprised to see how passionate some of these leaders already are about helping to utilize their influence to partner with our efforts, and we haven't even had the summit yet. Wow!
I believe the energy of all these leaders coming together for such a great cause is going to be historically memorable. It excites me to think the faith community will take the lead in helping to educate, and extend the message of the importance of being caretakers of our earth!
On another note here is my recent blog on happenings around Gods Green America:

Life Going Green

Last week Tammy Maltby, Megan Black, and Thom Black, landed in Nashville and spent three days with me. After dinner with David Dunham (product and media consultant) at Cantina Laredo, we hit the main drag where all the country music life is happenin. Thom, Megan and Tam loved the Mexican food, and Thom mentioned how there is just no good Mexican in Chicago. Only in Nashville can you come and find great Mexican and fun music. After dinner we hit downtown and within a half hour the group was wantin to go back to their hotels for some shut eye. Geeze Louise, you'd think they were a hundred years old.
Next day was filled with meetings. First stop, was breakfast at Pucketts in downtown Franklin. Thom loved the atmostphere and we all enjoyed recapping our dinner meeting with David Dunham. Our guest at breakfast was Terry Warren. Terry is a former Dallas Cowboy football player and has been in the music industry for years. His new CD "The Rock" will be released in a few weeks. Thom discussed some possible music senergy we could possibly have with Terry, then we finished up our oatmeal (we all had oatmeal but it wasn't organic), and then it was back in the car to meeting number two.
Franklin Christian Acadamy is building the first "green" certified school in Tennessee. We are looking to help them advance their building strategies and development, and also discussing the possiblities of a potential partnership to help develop a media track focused on green initiatives.  The media track would be held right on their campus. It was exciting to discuss the opportunities that would come as a result of us being a part of this venture. To think about hundreds of kids learning to use the screen in a positive "green" way was thrilling to think about! Ahhh, what fun. We met in their conference room and laid out different possiblities of how we could make this partnership work. We shall see...

Next, it was lunch. The tummy has a way of callin you back to reality. I of course took them to another amazing restaurant called "Bricks" in Brentwood, Tennessee. Tam and I enjoyed some wonderful chicken tortilla soup and split a goat cheese salad with grilled chicken. Megan had a salad, and Thom had some soup and homemade potatoe chips. It was delicious and the group applauded me for another great meal. lol I will expect the same treatment when I come to their neck of the woods.

Next meeting was with Simon and Shuster/Howard Books. We met with the Senior Acquisitions editor and briefly met with President Jonathan Merkh. Thom gave a brilliant presentation, and we discussed potential upcoming books and projects. The meeting was a wonderful success! Time to get Thom and Megan to the airport.
Wait a minute...hold a second. Coming out of the meetings we discovered someone had hit my car. UGH. Where is the green police when you need them. A hit and run of course. Fortunately it was drivable. In fact, while it was a pretty large dent, it was hardly noticable. Looks likea rental car for me for at least a week. Good news...no one was hurt thank God.
Drove Thom and Megan back to the airport and then Tam and I were off to our Gods Green Home photo shoot. We were exhausted but managed to pull it off. Of course, the nice bottle of white wine Tam recommended certainly helped. :) We had the absolute best time hammin it up for the camera and then it was off to guess where...to bed. We were both so physically exhausted we could hardly keep our eyes open. Guess the night on the town checkin out Nashville night life would have to wait.
Next mornin we had a video shoot for Gods Green Home and then spent the afternoon chatting over ideas before Tam had to board her six hour flight home. Yep, you heard me right...layovers. Hated that for her, but she was a trooper. Thanks for coming to Nashville Gods Green America Comrades. Sure loved havin you in my town!

Gods Green America Faith Liaison Micro Summit

It's only a month away before fifty of the top faith based liaisons to the white house will gather in beautiful sunny Orlando, Florida at our host hotel, The Hilton Bonnet Creek. Guest Host Cheryl Hill (Gods Green Africa President) and myself will be hosting the event for our fifty guests and will be introducing them to the Gods Green America Team! We will have a round table event with President, Thom Black, Green Experts Phil Thompson and David Brown and Pop Culture Director Jaeson Ma. Our guest speaker will be:

John Picard one of the preeminent environmental consultants in North America. Picard was one of the first members of President Clinton’s Greening of the White House team that developed innovative upgrade recommendations for the complex. He recently signed on to serve as Sustainability Consultant for the city of Greensburg, Kansas for Planet Green's major programming initiative Greensburg, produced by Leonardo DiCaprio and Craig Piligian and will be playing a major on-screen role throughout the 13-episode series that will be broadcast on The Discovery Channel, Planet Green, TLC, and The Science Channel. Mr. Picard has been published in major trade publications and books and has been a keynote speaker for Fortune 500 companies, universities and technology events. He has received awards and honors in the fields of architecture, energy and environmental science. Picard is an advisor to Discovery Channel’s Planet Green, a founder of Zero+, an affiliate of C Change and is a recipient of the 2008 Oceana Award.

To top off the event our own Gods Green Home Executive Director, Tammy Maltby and I will be doing a food presentation featuring the best in organic cooking! How fun will that be and all right there on stage! Right now I am getting the invites out, and working with Megan and Talia to get the conference planned. I am very excited to meet these faith leaders from all over the US!

Also joining us will be our own Maddie Green and Jonny Jerym the Green Traveler to take us to the street happenin's and give us the real "green" update!

So stay tuned weekly for the Sunflare Weekly update. I'll keep you posted on how things are progressing with the micro summits, and what's green and what is not. For instance did you ever think of using hand towels in the kitchen instead of paper towels? Yea, I know. So easy and yet not something I ever thought about until I became a caretaker of the earth. Hoping to get Nashville to start offering recycle options when they pick up trash. We are way behind the times here. Let me know if your city offers it and if you have insights on how to get a city to "go green".

May the road rise to meet you
May the wind be always at your back
May the sun shine warm upon your face
